Please join us as we open our doors at 5416 for a holiday sale and open house for the first two weekends in December! We will be open between the hours of 10am and 4pm. We have invited a few friends outside of the studio to share in the sale with us, including Material + Movement, Rachel Rader Inc, Armelle O’Neill, Janusz Pozniak and Sew Miishka. We will be showcasing blown glass, letterpress printed good and a range of beautiful jewelry. Please stop by and say hello!
Everyone is invited to join us this Saturday, May 7th, from 6-9pm for a GAS pre-conference party at 5416. Glass Art Society’s 41st Annual Conference will be in Seattle this year from June 1-5. The hotshop will be on and the screens will be filled with ink! Bring a shirt to print and enjoy the party! Entrance will be on the backside of the building on the ally between Shilshole and Ballard Ave.
We are excited and honored to announce that Granite and Jenny are part of a group show currently up in the Bellevue Arts Museum’s Community Education Gallery. The Artist Reception is this Friday night, March 4th from 5:30-7:30pm. Everyone in the Seattle area is invited to join us in celebration.
The tile of the show is “Artist Merit” and was coordinated in conjunction with Pratt Fine Arts Center. It features the work of recent Pratt scholarship recipients. The three other artists invited to take part in the show include Armelle Bouchet O’Neill, Julia Harrison and Isabella Leary. Jenny and Granite submitted a collaboration piece for the show, combining letterpress printed elements with blown glass. The show also includes two prints by Jenny as well as two glass piece by granite. Due to time constraints, we were unable to photograph any of the work before turning it in, so you’ll have to join us if you want to see it! If you can’t make it this Friday, the show will be up until April 23rd, 2011. The Community Education Gallery is always free and open to the public during regular museum hours.
This Friday is also Free Friday at BAM, so you can visit the rest of the Museum free of charge too! Click here for a map to the Museum. Hope to see you there!
Ther’s been a lot of blowing going on in the hot shop lately. Here’s what Greg has been working on.
Here is some of the latest work I’ve been doing in the hot shop. I’ve spent many days pulling, chopping, organizing and laying out murrine and now I get to have some real fun! I’m excited to explore more ideas for this type of work soon.

We’ll be opening our doors to the public again to today at 5416 from 10am – 5pm. We encourage everyone in the Ballard neighborhood to swing by and check out the studio. There will be glassblowing demonstrations most of the day as well as fun handmade items for sale made by the crew at 5416 and a few of our friends. We are just a block away from the Ballard Farmer’s Market. Our entrance is on the alley between Ballard Ave and Shilshole Ave, on 22nd. Check out a google map here. Hope to see you there!
The hot shop at 5416 is hot! Greg spent last weekend bringing the furnace up to temperature. He took his first gather of glass early last week – more photos on the way soon! See that blue light on the control box? The label above reads “FLAME ON”. There is just something so fantastic about that.
